🌞 It’s getting warmer, so many of you might be wondering: cooling shirts for dogs — a must-have or just hype? 😎🐾
So, what’s the real deal with them?
As with everything — there are fans and skeptics. Today, I’ll share our experience with them. 😊
Do we use cooling shirts?
Yes — but not always and not everywhere.
To be honest, I’m not a big fan of dressing up dogs unless it’s really necessary.
Let’s face it — dogs are happiest "naked," without any extra layers. 😅
That’s why, when it’s hot and we’re at home (we’re lucky to have a big garden where Jogi spends most of the summer), the cooling shirt stays in the closet.
Instead, I make sure he stays in the shade or lounges on the terrace with the fan on — that’s his go-to cooling spot. 🌬️
And if it gets too hot outside, we simply stay indoors. 🏡
So when does the cooling shirt actually come in handy? 🤔
We’ve found two specific situations where it really helps:
1️⃣ City outings.
When we’re out somewhere with no shade, and the pavement or asphalt is scorching hot. 🔥
In these cases, the cooling shirt really makes a difference.
Of course, you have to re-wet it from time to time — just pour some water on it from a bottle. 💦
And yes, it does work — when I take it off, Jogi’s chest is noticeably cooler than the rest of his body. 🧊
2️⃣ Woods or forest walks.
Not always, but when it’s hunting season, we put a bright-colored shirt on Jogi. 🍂
First, so hunters can spot him more easily (just in case),
and second, so I can keep track of him better too. 👀
But of course, that’s just our routine.
Every dog — and every dog parent — has different needs.
So I’m curious: do you use cooling shirts for your dogs?
Is it part of your everyday routine, or just something for special occasions? 🤷♀️
Let me know in the comments — I’d love to hear how it looks in your case! 💬
